Simuka Foundations is a non-profit organization founded on July 21, 2025, and formally established on August 31, 2025. We are driven by a mission to empower talented students from marginalized and underserved communities, providing financial assistance, mentorship, and holistic support to help them achieve their academic dreams.

Our programs include scholarships and financial aid, talent identification and outreach, mentorship and career guidance, skills development workshops, fund development and management, and advocacy for educational reforms. By addressing socioeconomic barriers, we ensure that students can focus on learning, personal growth, and building their future potential.

Guided by values of equity, empowerment, integrity, compassion, collaboration, and excellence, Simuka works with families, schools, and community partners to create opportunities that transform lives. Overall Goal

Provide financial support covering tuition, books, examination fees, and essential learning resources to remove barriers for deserving students.

Identify talented learners in underserved communities through structured outreach, school engagement, and community networks, ensuring opportunities reach those in need.

Connect students with mentors and advisors to guide academic, career, and personal development, fostering confidence and informed decision-making.

Offer skills development workshops in leadership, digital literacy, communication, entrepreneurship, and vocational abilities to prepare students for life and work.

Our History and Founding

Simuka Foundations collaborates with key stakeholders in Zimbabwe to maximize its impact and ensure sustainability. These include:

  • Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education – supporting talent identification and school-based interventions

  • Zimbabwe Open University and University of Zimbabwe – for mentorship, skills workshops, and academic guidance

  • Local Rural District Councils (RDCs) – facilitating community outreach and student support

  • Traditional leaders and community gatekeepers – promoting local buy-in and participation

  • Faith-based networks and youth organizations – extending mentorship and community engagement

  • Private foundations, donors, and corporate social responsibility programs – funding scholarships and programs

Simuka Foundations formalizes these collaborations through Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) that define responsibilities, strengthen partnerships, and promote sustainable, long-term impact.

Governance and Team

Simuka Foundations is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of individuals with expertise in education, community development, youth empowerment, finance, and social impact. The Board ensures accountability, transparency, and strategic oversight of all programs and resources.

The organization is managed by a professional, multidisciplinary team with experience in:

  • Student development and scholarship management

  • Community engagement and outreach

  • Mentorship and career guidance programs

  • Skills development and vocational training

  • Fundraising, resource mobilization, and financial stewardship

  • Monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessment

Key roles include:

  • Executive Director

  • Program Manager

  • Finance and Compliance Officer

  • Talent Identification & Outreach Coordinator

  • Mentorship and Skills Development Officer

  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Coordinator

  • Community Liaison Officers (deployed in target districts)

All team members undergo training in safeguarding, participatory planning, gender sensitivity, and ethical engagement to ensure programs are inclusive, responsible, and community-centered.
